Terms, disclaimer & privacy

Gauteng Plugged In (plugged-in.co.za) is a free online directory that helps people find local businesses. It is built and managed solely by Kerry (Kez) Sawyer, who is the person responsible for it and for the personal information it holds. "We" and "us" on this page mean Kez Sawyer.

We are not a party to any deal, booking or payment between you and a business.

Listing details (names, contact details, descriptions, photos, prices and services) come from the businesses themselves or from their public pages. We try to keep them accurate, but we don't check every detail and we don't guarantee that any listing is correct, complete or up to date.

We don't check or vouch for any business's licences, registrations, qualifications, insurance, safety or quality of work. Before you hire someone, especially for regulated work such as electrical, plumbing, building, pest control, medical, legal or financial services, ask to see their registration and do your own checks.

A listing, a Featured label or a Plugged In Pro badge is not a recommendation or endorsement. Plugged In Pro and Featured listings get extra tools and appear first in the directory because of that, not because we've rated them.

Our AI helper suggests listings based on what you type. Its suggestions can be wrong, so always check the business yourself.

As far as the law allows, Gauteng Plugged In and the people who run it are not responsible for any loss or damage that comes from using the site, relying on a listing or dealing with a business you found here. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act that can't legally be limited.

Listing your business. Listing is free. By listing, you confirm the details are true and that you have the right to use the name, logo and photos you add, and you allow us to show and share your listing, including on social media, to help people find you. We may edit, decline or remove listings that are inaccurate, misleading, offensive or unlawful.

Listings we create for you. If you ask us to list you (for example by sending your Facebook page or website), we build the listing from that public information. You can ask us to change or remove it at any time.

Bookings. The Book now form sends your request to the business on WhatsApp. A booking only exists once the business confirms it with you. Prices, deposits, cancellations and the service itself are between you and the business.

Reviews. Reviews can only be left by people who sent a booking through the site, and we check each one before it's published. We don't edit what reviewers write, and we publish honest negative reviews as well as positive ones. We remove reviews that are abusive, fake, off-topic or that share someone's personal details. Reviews are the reviewer's own opinion, not ours.

Fair use. Please don't copy the directory in bulk, post false information, impersonate a business or try to break the site.

Other websites. Links to WhatsApp, Facebook and business websites take you to services we don't control. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

Changes. We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. South African law applies.

We respect your privacy and follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Here's what we collect and why:

• Business listings: the contact details and information a business shares to be listed, so customers can find and contact them. This is public on the listing.
• Accounts: your email address and name if you sign in, so you can manage your listing and favourites.
• Visits and taps: an anonymous random code for your browser and a scrambled (one-way) version of your connection address. We use these only to count views and taps for business owners and to block spam. We can't tell who you are from them.
• Booking requests: your name, optional number and request, saved so the business can manage your booking. Only that business and Gauteng Plugged In can see it, and it's deleted after 12 months.
• Reviews: your first name, rating and review are shown publicly once approved.
• Requests to us: what you send through the form below, so we can deal with it.

We don't sell your information. We share it only with the business you contact or book, with the service providers that host and run this site, or where the law requires it.

Your rights. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. It's free, and we'll respond within 30 days. Use the form below.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
